Kathmandu. 11 people who are accused of working to promote and run the illegal betting operation Onex Bet have been ordered by the court to post bail. Judge Himalal Belbase of the Kathmandu District Court issued this directive on Wednesday before a lone bench.
Dinesh Khadka, who is allegedly the agent of ONEX Bet, has been told to release a Rs. 10 lakh bond, and Anita Dhital a Rs. 5 lakh bond, per the information that has been received. In addition, bail of NPR. 5,000 has been set for artists Marichman Shrestha (Balchi Dhurve), Raju Paudel (Raju Paudel), and Begum Nepali (Bhatbhate Maila), YouTuber Pawan Khatiwada (Macuri), Alish Rai, Jalan Ghartimagar (Jalan), Ganesh Devkota (Ganesh GD), and Saroj Ghimire (Dhendu Budho).
On June 32 of last month, eight YouTubers and artists were detained by the authorities for participating in illegal betting activities in Nepal. The idea that ordinary people may make money by playing games or making predictions about games was once presented to them as greed.
They used to do this by including advertising materials and a discount code for the betting app in the YouTube video or description. Five people, including Dinesh Khadka, 29, and Anita Dhital, 28, of Chabahill, were detained by the police on June 31 on suspicion of working as internet betting agents.
